Problem with Lasso Tool?

Hello,

I'm fairly new to Illustrator, and am currently going through the 'Illustrator CS3 Essential Training" by Mordy Golding from Lynda.com, and I have a question about the Lasso Tool.

I dont know whether there is some preference to turn off the lasso outline, but whenever I try and use the tool, and I drag around the screen, there is no trail behind the drag. If I drag in a circle around a bunch of objects, they become selected, but it's as if the trail I am dragging is invisible.

Is there a way that this could be hidden/turned off?

I guess everyone can disregard my post... It appears to have been something that was acting odd with one particular file. I can't explain why tho. The lasso tool does appear to work correctly.

I tried out a few ways to reproduce your problem. Nothing in the view menu would hide the lasso outline. The only limit I found was that the lasso outline always seems to be in black, so if the background is black you will not see it.

Sounds like it could also be time to trash the pref file.
