I work in a sign shop and we do alot of large format digital printing. We use Roland printers. I was wondering if anyone knew if you could put cut paths on images in Illustrator? We do not have CS3 yet, only CS2. If anyone knows anything and can relate it back, I would be eternally greatfull.

Sure you can cut paths from Illustrator. I have seen all kinds of knife and laser cutters that will work off of Illustrator (AI or EPS), Corel or DXF/CAD files. Some work off of printer drivers that transpose the path information, some use propietary software such as I-Cut.

So yes.

I work in a sign shop too. We use 'Fine Cut'. I'm sure you can google and download it.

I design the sign and registation marks, then on a separate layer draw the cut lines. Print the sign, then come back and select the 'cut' layer and registration marks to plot it.
