Just joined

I just joined the forum, have been getting my feet wet a little at a time with illustrator. My only regret is that it took me so long, and I wish I had more time than I do. However, I am determined to become very comfortable with Illustrator. I have run into a problem, Sometimes when I click on to target an object it jumps somewhere else when I try to move the object-AM I Missing something? Help!
