Hi all,

Need to do an intricate sort of 'organic grid' thing representing motion for a client but can't for the life of me figure out how to do it so that the lines are not uniform...

The best two examples I can find of what i'm thinking of are attached (though they are both probably done in Freehand to be honest), neither are exactly what i'm looking for but show great movement & are both excellently done.

Any help / advice would be great.

Keep on creating,

Lee

You could draw a series of straight paths, then use the warp tools to alter them.

This is quick and dirty with the "Pucker" tool on a series of paths.

Another great way to do it would be by creating a few paths of key shapes, and then creating blends. And that is about as much help as I am willing to give to someone who asks for help in such a manner.

Granted, you are english.

Try leaving out unnecessary explatives in threads (and posts).

Though, as is often the case, these look as if they should be easy they are put together with thought and most likely constructed rather than simple filters producing quick results. You could try the warp/twirl/pucker/bloat tools but I think you'll find it requires more manual control and lots more time. Its worth considering splitting your design into stages, using the blend tool with multiple steps to make up the gaps so that throughout your illustration the design flows fluently, however without a full indication of what you require its hard to give a definite description.
Alternatively you may find a wireframe from a 3D app helps.
