I have found several different ways to create a drop of water on a surface, but how do I create a 3-D water drop about to fall from something? (Basically, the "hershey's kiss" shape, but with a rounded bottom). I have created the shape with two lines and a circle, but if I try to gradient fill it fills the shapes separately instead of as a unit. How do I make these objects act as one? Thanks!

Hi Jonathon,

Try checking out this (http://www.illustratortechniques.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1381) thread, which is still fairly recent. They talk about doing something similar using blends.

Basically, i think once you have your (blue) water drop shape, duplicate it, resize it smaller in white, line the two of them up, and blend them.

and don't forget to post your results!

Jonathan,
Try selecting all the shapes you used to make the drop shape. Then using the pathfinder menu, select the first set of icons that look like 2 squares fused together under the Shape Mode. Now you can apply a gradient or whatever color to the drop and it colors it as a whole.

Here is the pathfinder dialog box that I am referring to. . .

Thank you so much! I've been away travelling for the Holidays, but will give it a shot as son as I get the chance.
