OK, £5,000 is a nice prize, but who knows how it will be judged and if anyone will actually be awarded the prize fairly. In most contests you lose all rights to your work, and the contest sponsors get to choose from hundreds or maybe thousands of designs. Maybe one or a few artists win some money.
And you, the artist, are really working on spec. Check out:

Click on Design Contests. This is an article everyone should read before giving away their talent.

Hi micke,
Good point!
Anyone who does spec is saying that their work is worth nothing.

Ace >> Don't misunderstand me… I'm not saying, "never enter a contest." Especially for students, contests can be a good learning experience and a chance for recognition. But when a contest is offered by a large company or organization, I have to ask why.
For a working professional, this type of contest is just to get a free campaign (the contest is part of the campaign, don't you know?) and any work you do is "spec."
It didn't take me long to learn that working for spec (and there are lots of variations on this scam) never paid off!

Hi Micke,
I couldn't agree more!
Having entered several contests, as a student at Pratt (1973), I could definitely see the benefits. I know that being one of the winners of a Wayerhauser student contest, gave me the opportunity to get my work printed and in front of important people in the graphic arts industry. After all, who didn't get and pay attention to Wayerhauser Paper samples in 1973?
But at that time, you didn't hear about contests on an Internet forum. Your instructors passed along the information, so it was far more likely to be legit. And usually the schools participated in the same well-established contests year after year.

I can see some of the points made here.
But contests like this are still a great opportunity for up-and-coming designers to get noticed, and £5000 is a good fee for the eventual winner.
I can assure you that this comp is definitely legit, Brahma is a well-respected brand with a reputation to consider!
So, anyone entered then? ;)
