Problem with distribute spacing...

For some reason, If I select two guides with an object in between them and select Horizontal Distribute Space, one of the guides on either side of the object moves to have the space evenly distributed instead of the object in the middle. Is there a preference I'm missing? I have the spacing set to Auto.
