Hi--
I'm new to the group and glad to be joining your forum. I am trying to learn Illustrator CS3, as it's being required by the company I work for, but is not the graphics program I'm used to. Is there a way when you put in a gradient, say with just two colors, that one can be a 'no color' and not white? Help and thank you!! :)

Hi Jounrey,

By definition, all gradients require at least 2 colors/values. Otherwise they are just solid fills.

I think perhaps you may be thinking of a color to transparent gradient. That is not possible in Illustrator at this point. You can use an opacity mask to create the same appearance however. If you search google for "Illustrator Opacity Mask" you'll find several tutorials

Hi Scott--
Yes, you are correct that I really meant color to transparent gradient. I use that feature a lot, but had not been able to find it in Illustrator. I'll try the opacity mask. Thank you so much! :)
