Hi

Please can some body help me with a problem I'm having with Illustrator 10 (using PC with windows)

It's probably a really simple task to do, but I don't seem to know how to do it.

The problem i'm having is changing the size/scale of an item in illustrator. Usually when you sketch a box or bring in an image, you can use the black arrow click on the item, then small white boxes appear in all the corners of the selected item. This then allows you to change the size/scale of the item. Now when the item is selected the small boxes in the corner are filled blue, and I can not change the size of the item, only move its position.

Can someone please help me set this command back so I can change the scale of the item in the normal way, by just clicking onto with the black arrow, then change the size/scale with the white boxes in the corners.

I believe you can go into the documents and settings and change back to the default setting for the programme, but I can't seem to find the correct thing to do on this.

Please can someone help me on this, it will be very much appreciated.

Many Thanks

Ash

Go to View>Show Bounding Box and you can rescale using a corner. Hold down Shift to maintain proportions. The key command to toggle between show/hide bounding box is Command-Shift-B on Mac, so I guess it's Control-Shift-B on a PC.
By the way, you do have a Scale tool (S) in the toolbox. Select what you want to scale and double-click on the Scale tool to enter percentages, or just type S and push or pull (again, hold down Shift, to maintain proportions).
