Good evening everyone. I have a question concerning the modification of polygon sizes. I am using illustrator to create some very basic tool paths to export as DXF files. At any rate, I need to draw some triangles with side lengths of specific dimensions. For example, I need to draw a 1/4" by 4" by 4" triangle. I have discovered that I can make a equilateral triangle using the draw polygon tool, but is there a way to precisely define the distance between each vector in the shape? Looking for a way to simply select one side of the triangle, and enter the side length required.

I would be most appreciative of everyone's help regarding this.

Thanks everyone.

Oh and I am using illustrator CS3 on a mac with os x 10.5

So I guess the root of my question is this... there is a way to measure the actual distance of a line segment from one vector point to the next. Is there a way to define this distance? And further is there a way to lock this distance in place so that the line segment can be moved, and rotated without the distance between it's vector points changing?

EG... A----B (distance from a to b is 4 units)

A

B (Distance from a t b is still 4 units)
