I will get in trouble by Husker for this as I posted a similar question over at Illu World.

I am wondering if anyone has ever used a plugin called Cylinder distort from Telegraphics (an Aussie outfit). It is redundant today and probably was when it first came out (You can do the same effects with 3D and mapping). There was a PS version of the Distort filter too but I could never get it to work properly in either application. I am simply curious to know if if ever did work and if anyone had it. If it did not work it might tell us to stay clear of Telegraphics software. They never could give a good explanation of it anyhow.

Also if you do have it it will load into CS3.

If you have this plugin and have used it successfully please let me know how you used it. A silly problem I know but it is bugging me that I cannot get it to do what it is/was supposed to do.

So Husker, if you are reading this don't get upset with me!

Cheers,

Gary.

I finally got Toby to explain how to run this and it does work quite well. It works both in Photoshop and Illustrator - though the CS versions do have many other different ways to run the same effect.

I have played a bit more with Cylinder Distort and I think there is still some value in this cheap little code. Sure Illustrator CS2 and CS3 (probably CS) can do a better job overall but this is a quite quick method once figured out to do some neat things. I post a couple examples (done quickly) at:http://spedsblog.blogspot.com/ for anyone interested in looking at this.

The Photoshop version would be good for those with earlier versions or without CS3 extended.
