Clone stamp tool question

Hey everyone!

I'm adding to a shadow line and trying to hold the Shift key to contrain the Clone Stamp tool to a perfectly straight line. Photoshop CS2 isn't cooperating. Anybody know what the deal is or maybe I can't constrain this particular tool...

The stamp tool should be able to constrain. Something else must be going on.

I wonder if you're problem is with the align function in the clone tool. As near as I can figgure out, when you use the shift key with the clone tool, it acts as if the align button was checked regardless.

If you shif + click and drag, the clone reference point moves with the cursor (as it should). But, if you click, move the cursor then shift + click with the align button unselected, the clone reference point moves with the cursor as well which to me is counter intuitive.
