I need Help with a logo!

I have search online and can't find anything to help me create what seems like a simple concept/shape to work with for a logo. I need to take 6 rectangles (3 columns and 3 rows) and distort it so it looks kinda like a waving flag. The wave effect doesn't do anything. Can someone help me?

Have you tried the "flag" effect?

I tried the flag effect, but when I did it, it made all 6 rectangles "individual flags". Thank you so much, you made me realize I must group the rectangles first!
