Hi
Is it possible to overwrite a graphic style with another?

Specifically, I'm importing a graphic style library from another file and would like to be able to replace the styles in the host file with the imported ones. Illustrator does not seem to offer the opportunity to do this when I user the "Open graphic style library" found under the Graphic styles panel.

Cheers for this.

When you load a graphics style library from another file, you are opening a separate panel with the new graphics styles. Any graphics styles used in the "Host" file are located in the Main Graphics Styles panel.

I'm not really sure exactly what you are trying to do, but you can try this:

Hold down the Alt key. Drag a graphics style from the newly loaded library on top of the graphics style in the Graphics Styles panel you want to replace.

This will refresh any object using the prvious graphics style with the new one.

Hi - just the job. Some solutions seem really obvious when you know them.
Thanks for taking the time.

For anyone else reading this - seems you should think of the appearance panel and the graphic style panel as being together. Dragging little icons from one to the other or using one to update the other. Not entirely intuitive for ex-Freehand users and perhaps newbies, but has a logic once you tune in to it.

Thanks again.
