Bleeds Won't Bleed [Archive] - LAYERS Magazine Forums

Hello All!

I set up a bleed (1/8 in) on my cover design and when I printed directly from ID CS2 the image that I had to bleed didn't do it. Then, I exported the file to PDF and when Acrobat 7.0 Pro opened the page showed the bleed as I wanted but when I printed it from Acrobat the image again did not bleed.

Any suggestions on how I should have set up the bleed in order for it to print?

Did you select the bleed in the printing dialog?

Are you printing on paper large enough to allow for the bleed after trimming? A letter-sized page printed on letter-sized paper won't show a bleed out of most printer because there's a non-printable area of 1/4" or so where the printer grabs the paper to move it through the print path.
