Ok here is what I hate and have always hated since the 'beginning'. The white background on my PS documents is always being chosen whenever I am trying to chose type or a ghosted image. Is there a way to make the background really the artboard so to speak and thereby not choosable? I know I can have it be clear with the grid showing but I don't like that either with the small type and many layers I end up having it gives me a physcadelic op art headache.

You can choose none for your transparent grid display option. Then it will still be a transparent background but you won't have to look at the grid.

Seems that if I make a new background it still has a white that moves.

thank you! I can't beleive how long I struggled with this and totally forgot about the settings for the grid. Whew! I remember now that I set it up with a grid because it reminded me of keylining and I needed that to feel safe back then and then forgot all about it.
