How to apply a layer mask to an effect

Hello,

I want to attenuate a layer's effect via a mask. How do I do this? Can I use a mask other then the layer mask? What I mean is can I have one mask for the layer and another for each effect applied to the masked layer.

Hi Doug,
This may be what you're looking for:
After you create your layer styles (editable styles via the styles icon at the bottom of the layers palette)
go to Layer > Layer Style > Create Layer. This will make an individual layer from each of the styles you created, which you can then individually mask.

The new layers are no longer editable through the styles dialog box, so it may be a good idea to make a copy of the original layer (with the styles) before you create the individual layers from the styles.
