Hello,

I just completed the online Flash tutorial by Justin Finley to create a simple slideshow with back and forward buttons. But it is not working for me.

I am using Adobe CS3 Flash; Actionscript 2 (as directed); on a Mac G5 PowerPC. As far as I can tell, I have followed the directions for creating the layers, importing images and entering the scripts pretty meticulously.

Obviously I am not doing it correctly because when I export the Flash as a movie, it doesn't play. The debug connection cannot be made by the Player (Flash Player 9).:(

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get assistance with this? Is there somewhere I can demonstrate what I have done so someone could tell me what is missing or in error? Needless to say, I am new to Flash.

Thanks,
Shelley:)

Happily, I have been able to make the slideshow work, after hours of re-doing and thinking about it.

The problem was that I had not named my back button and forward button symbols to be consistent with their names in the action script (doh!). Plus, I was getting confused between what I could see in the root mode vs the edit mode. There are two action script layers but one is contained in a layer in the root mode and the other is contained in the edit mode. So once I made the names correct and put the correct script into the correct layer mode, it worked.

So I have answered my own question. But I hope it helps someone else.
