Hello,

I am just upgrading and adding Dreamweaver and the other goodies (Flash and Fireworks) to my computer. I know all the best teaching/tutorial sites for PS, Illustrator and InDesign but where do I start looking for these other apps?

I am sure this had been covered on the Forum already so if you can lead me to the Forum threads on this or suggest the best on-line (Free and Paid) resources (other than Lynda, Kelby and Total Training) I'd appreciate it. Anything to lessen the learning-curve!

AppClinic (http://www.appclinic.com/screencast/) is a good resource for many of the applications in the Creative Suite. RC's latest topic on the layers TV podcast dealt with the new Fireworks CS4 beta but there would be a number of things that will transfer back to CS3. For general coding help check out CSS Tricks (http://css-tricks.com/) by Chris Coyier. CSS tricks is both a blog and a podcast so check out both avenues of information.

Thanks Curtis,

I will have to look harder at AppClinic and other sites as you are right they cover all the applications here. I have tended to bypass these topics up until now. I also re-checked Terry White's Creative Suite Podcast but he has not added much on Dreamweaver yet since his Intro to Dreamweaver Podcast awhile back.

Also I will resign up for Watch and Learn Flash (.com) for their videos including a free one weekly.

In all honesty, you do not need to learn Dreamweaver. It is pretty much an HTML editor with a lot of time-saving functions. Learn HTML, not Dw. If you sit down with it for a weekend you can learn most of the interface on your own.

I second Torch's suggestion. If you can code then learning the time saving features in DW is a bonus. Just learning the design view in DW doesn't make you a good web designer. I know the Lynda courses I have taken on DW have helped me become more effificeint in the app but I knew how to code first.

It will be awhile before I use the new applications though I do know a wee bit of and about code. Up to now I have only really used Frontpage and a wee bit of the old GOLive but I am really starting out fresh with Dw, Fl and Fw.

Thanks for the comments though.

I am glad you are getting away from front page. I am really enjoying learning dreamweaver and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I am. Have never seen golive.
