A friend gave me a Ai file to put onto my Dreamweaver. How do I (step by step) pull it up and work with it in DW? I do not have the Ai software, or Photoshop, or Illustrator. Is it possible to bring it up without the other programs?
Thank You

You should be able to pull the file into PS. Check out the CSS Tricks (http://css-tricks.com/) podcast. The first 3 episodes walk you through making a PS mock up into a web page so all of the basics are there for you.

Sorry, the Ai file is on a memory stick already for me to load onto Dreamweaver. I do not have Photoshop or Illustrator. I just want to bring the file up onto Dreamweaver and add the links to it. Is that possible?

Sure you can, open it with Graphic Converter (http://www.lemkesoft.com/), it's free BTW.
Every graphic artist should have Graphic Converter on their computer. It is absolutely invaluable. Once open, you have the option of saving in any of the standard web graphic formats.

try renamng the filr to .pdf and open it in Acrobat, from there you should be able to export to whatever. Also if it's a one off don't you get the 30 day trials to download from Adobe as used to be the case?

I'm guessing that if tizzytoys@aol.com does not have PS or Ill then he does have Acrobat either. Although Acrobat does save JPG and PNG it will not save a GIF, which might be the best option for certain AI files.
On the other hand Graphic Converter can open somewhere around 200 different graphic file formats, and can "save as" somewhere around 80 different graphic file formats.
It has been one of the most popular and well know graphics programs for years and years, is very mature and developed and has amazing capabilities. Although it cost around 25 euros, $35 US, it will work for free forever, you just have to endure the Lag Screen as it opens.
One small possible drawback, it is Mac only.
