I just started to get into Fw and realized there is a tip (many may not know about) that I like to try on many menu-options. In this case I was looking at the preset Gradients (but works with layer styles-blend modes) and find, when highlighted you can scroll through them by using the up/down arrows.
Now may not sound significant but in Photoshop they tell you to get the selection tool and press Shift and right/left bracket keys to scroll through blend modes. This way of just hitting the down arrow keys is much faster. Works (in Windows platforms) on many other presets.
Neat to find it works in Fw too.
Also finding that for many folks Fw replaces both Illustrator and Photoshop. Maybe Adobe should put out a Fireworks Elements version for others to use like they did with PS Elements. Gets vector and bitmap tools out to those not interested in using Fw for prototype web work.
