Hi,
does anyone know of any tutes describing the process of creating custom preloaders using the 'maths' function in Actionscript? I need the process broken down into everyday language - (read: non-technical/geek speak terms)...
I had a site completely created in Flash, which I had to remove (it was a portfolio site) which had thumbnails of the larger images, which when clicked would show the larger, full-sized image next to it... I was advised that the only practical way to get this larger image to load, without a viewer getting frustrated and 'vamoosing' was to put an animated preloader (however simple) with a percentage loaded indicator in there while the larger image is downloading... this apparently requires the 'maths' calculation to be deployed... Now,as I'm a designer, not a coder, and I HATE anything to do with numbers, it really made me give up in frustration, and I removed the site... coz things wrre taking too long to appear...
So, I think this kinda thing would stump many designers, and after numerous attempts to get a blow-by-blow tutorial posted on other forums, I thought I'd try here - or hey, maybe we can hassle 'Layers' to do one in the mag... ;)
I really hope so...
