dotted line, scalloped edge

I am new with illustrator cs2. I would like to do two things:

1. I would like to create a dotted line. I can create a dashed liine, but I can't figure out how to make it dotted.

2. I would like to create a scalloped edge (kind of like a stamp). I tried using the scallop tool, but that didn't quite work for me.

Can anyone help me out?
