I have a bit of a problem while performing the 3d effects in Illustrator (extrude & bevel / revolve).
For one when I was adding a map art to the middle of the pencil all the black lines became visable.

And the other problem is with just a font transformation. This is how my "e" looked after a simple extrude & bevel (font - impact, but others make problems as well).

Can somebody tell my why those occur and what to do about them.
