Hi an new to illustrator and the forum
i wonder if anyone can help with creating a similar image to the one linked below.

http://tinyurl.com/5fjx8o

I assume it may be a blend along a path ( small circle to larger circle )which i managed to do but then got lost trying to duplicate this as another colour/blend
Would appreciate any tips
thanks

Draw a small dot

then place a larger dot above that, which would be roughly the size of the middle dot in the example.

then place a smaller a dot even higher up than that

Colour the lowest dot (the first drawn one) with a light blue

The middle one with a dark blue

The last one with a light blue again

Select all 3 objects and choose

Edit>Blend Options

Change it to specified steps and insert a number (this can be changed later).

Then with all 3 selected choose, MAKE BLEND from the Edit Menu

If it all looks too little or too much, then you can go back to the blend options and change the number you specified.

You can move the last dot, the middle dot and the first dot with the White Selection Tool on the toolbar (left hand side of screen).

With the pen tool, hold down alt (cmd on mac) and then grab the middle point of the line (with the objects selected of course).

Now drag that point so it curves.

Click the Rotate Tool, select the tip of the curved line and rotate it around so that it forms the next step of the spiral.

Press ctl d (cmd d on mac) to repeat this. You need to do this 7 times.

Now colour each dot the colour it should be (only the first middle and last dot).

When that is done, you select all objects and rotate them all around to form the rest of the spiral.

And I think you may be able to use the twirl tool on straight lines of the colored circles to make the twirling configuration, although I get some pretty crazy results when I try it.
