Pen Tool in Adobe CS4

I just upgraded to MasterCollection CS4 on my Mac and opened Illustrator. I noticed that the pen tool has an added feature. It is smarter - snaps to other paths, displays length of path, etc... Does anyone know how to turn this feature on and off.

Are you refering to smart guides? They been there before difference is if they are on or off by default. ctrl-U (command-u) to toggle on/off.

Did CS3 have that feature?

but to some extent with the snapping to guides. Just chacking CS2, yes even there, don't remember when they introduced it.

As far as I can remember, smart guides are at least as old as Ill. 10.

Illustrator 9 had them as well (according to the org. manual AND the Illustrator 9 Bible).
