Slice tool with guides

I'm trying to slice up a document but I need to be really precise, and I cant seem to get the slice tool to follow guides. I have never used this before, does anyone have any ideas?

Why don't you use one of these methods?

Object>Slice>Create from Guides

or

Object>Slice>Create from selection
