Hello...
I am trying to place an Illustrator file into an InDesign page, but when I place the Illus. file it only copies parts of the file and not the whole thing. Is there something that I am missing. I have made triple and quadruple sure that the file has been saved and that all of the pieces of the file are saved. I even tried to copy and paste and that isn't working correctly either. WHen I copy and paste I get text that is not in the right spot!! I am totally confused!! Thanks for any help!!

Could you show a screen dump of the illy file and of the placed file?
When placing a file you can show place options. The Illustator file will normally place with the active paste board.

Here are a couple of screen shots of what I am seeing. The one labeled "illus_file" is the one I am trying to put into InDesign. The one labeled "InDesign_file" is what is happening when I paste into InDesign. Notice that the tabs at the top of the magazine header are missing. ANd so are some of the borders. Not sure what is happening!! Any help would be great.
Thanks
Robert

looks like you are clipping at artboard and that ther tabs are outside artboard.
You can set the artboard to include all artwork, or place the art with the option to crop to artwork.

make sure it isn't a rendering issue in ID. don't know how much you know about ID, but when you place a file in ID it defaults to "Typical Display" so the images you place don't take up too much RAM or scratch disk. to see the high quality version, select the image/item, right-click (or cntrl-click) and select "High Quality Display" under Display Performance at the bottom. you can also get there in the View menu (View -> Display Performance).
if this isn't it, it's probably the artboard dimensions
just re-read the original post, are you COPYING from AI to ID, or PLACING an AI file into ID. little bit different, placing will give you the best results.
