Is there a way to make a set of parallel curved lines without using the brush palette?
I am working on a map, and I need to be able to edit the lines independently of one another.

Draw one path that follows the center of the parallel. Then, go to Object>Path>Offset Path... and choose the amount you wish to offset (it will offset in both directions.) Then, delete the original path and delete the top and bottom segments of the new offset path and you will be left with 2 independent parallel lines that can be edited however you like.

That works great. Thanks!

Or draw the curved path, bump up the stroke a little and Object>Path>Outline stroke. It will become a filled shape rather than a stroked path but if you switch the Fill to Stroke you will have parallel paths. (Delete the ends) Same thing really.
