There isn't enough information in your post. What camera system do you use? The camera's propriatory file format (for example: .orf for olympus) will not open directly into photoshop without the proper plugin for that particular Raw file. You would have to use the software that came with your camera to open the files.

Now if you were to go to Adobe's website you can download Their DNG convertor with camera raw plugin. This software recognizes most camera manufacturer's propriatory file formats. You could then convert your propriatory files into Adobe's digital negative files which is a published standard that Adobe has chosen to support for many years to come.

I just tried to open my saved .orf files from the dvd and like yourself I couldn't view the images in the folder that I had chosen, even from the propriatory software. I have a Mac and was told that Preview could not show me the images because it didn't recognize the format.

What I had to do to preview the images was to take the folder that I had wanted and copy it back into the folder that my camera's software originally places my images. This made the files available to me to view.

There is also a way that you can import your images from the DVD that you have them written to, but you would need a plugin from your camera manufacturer for Photoshop. Olympus makes such a plugin. You would have to install the plugin according to the instructions that come with it. then you can open images directly from the DVD into Photoshop. The sequence will be such: File menu>Import>Olympus Raw (the name of my particular plugin) which will open up a dialogue box for basic editing for developing the file which will then open directly into photoshop.

I don't know yoru camera manufacturer or computer OS but I hope that I was of help

I want to edit my original post. With the camera raw plugin for your camera system installed intoits proper place in Photoshop, and Photoshop open, it would be file menu>Import>Look for your camera raw name>opens navigational dialogue box where you navigate to your DVD and you select the file. > on the file you want to open and then the plugin opens and you do some minor editing on your file > click on the development button and your image is opened into photoshop

Hope this helps

I can't open my RAW files in Photoshop CS. When I try, there is a message that says, "Could not complete your request because of a program error." This just happened all of a sudden. Can anyone help?

Adobe just recently released their new Raw plugin 3.4 with Adobe DNG conversion software. You need to install the Raw plugin into the proper folder and then you should be able to open your raw files On a Mac, that would be the hard drive your operating system is on>Library>Application Support>Adobe>Plug-Ins>CS>File Formats> Camera Raw.plugin. Seems a lot of navigating, but all can be done from the finder window.

Also, your camera manufacturer probably makes a plug-in for photoshop so you can open your raw files directly into photoshop from the import menu listed under the file menu of Photoshop. On the Mac, that would be applications> Photoshop> Plug-ins> Import/Export> your camera raw plugin.

I recommend that you use the Adobe DNG converter to convert all of your camera Raw files to the more standardized Adobe DNG file format. Then Photoshop should always open your images when you want them without error messages.

If you are running a Windows platform, maybe some good hearted soul will give you the instructions on how to install the above onto your machine for I have no clue

Hope this helps

I just found another way of opening raw images into photoshop. I have the Olympus raw plugin for photoshop, and with it installed, I can go to file>import>Olympus camera Raw>navigate to image I want opened and open it. I am sure that Nikon, Fuji, and Canon also make a plugin for photoshop that would allow you to import an image into Photoshop from your storage DVDs that you have made, I opened an image that I have stored on DVD using the above method
