I dont know about Live Cycle, but in Acrobat 8/9 you can enable Adobe Reader User Rights for the PDF document. After that, any user with Adobe Reader 8 or 9 can save filled forms.

When you use LiveCycle to create a form and distribute it anyone with an Adobe Reader 6,7,8,or 9 can fill it out. Plus if you put a Submit by Email button on it the pdf will come back filled out and ready for collection.

Now if your question is how to have your users only use Reader to fill it out and save it and not some of the third party pdf readers that is a tougher question. We have been sending out pdf forms for artists to fill out for the last year and still get them back renamed or blank when they use the third party software. I have even put a text box on each forms telling them to use the FREE Adobe reader and we still get them back renamed.

From LiveCycle save the form as Acrobat 6 (static) PDF Form (*.pdf).
Then open the form with Adobe Reader 8. Go to Advanced and slect "Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader". this will allow them to save the data from the fillable PDF Form, use the Comment and Mark-up Tools and sign electronically when a digital signature field exists without having Adobe Reader 8. They can save the file or rename as long as they use File-"Save As"- If they save using "Save A Copy" this will remove the rights and permissions and the form will not work. Hope this helps.
