I have been having problems saving for web out of Illustrator CS2. This first example is an Illustrator file copied and pasted into Photoshop CS2 as pixels. It was saved as a jpeg with maximum compression:

This second example is straight out of Illustrator as a jpeg with maximum compression:

As you can see the Illustrator version is jagged. What am I doing wrong?

thanks in advance

Have you compared the two file sizes in Photoshop after making the jpgs? It looks like there must be some kind of file size difference.

When saving for web from photoshop, photoshop converts the image to 72 dpi but doesn't resample the image to change the file size. Instead the image becomes a larger than 100%, 72 dpi image.

Illustrator is different. It converts and then saves the image as 72 dpi at 100% of orig size.

You are probably pasting from Illustrator into a 300 dpi photoshop file so the photoshop file will be 100% at 300 dpi and then saving for web, giving you a resized, larger but not resampled, 72 dpi image.

If that isn't clear then, again, compare the two file sizes in photoshop and I think you'll see what I mean.

Actually I finally figured it out Repro. In Illustrator I didn't have Anti Alias checked in the Image tab of the Save for Web dialogue. Therefore - jaggies…

It's always something isn't it?
