It's quite annoying that when you're working in Illy, using shortcuts or text, all of a sudden Illustrator thinks I'm using a Qwerty keyboard while I'm not.

And it's only in Illustrator that it happens because right now I can type this text without a problem. But when I switch back to Illustrator it's all Qwerty again.

I can't find a setting in the preferences to change this so I was hoping if someone here knows how I can fix this?

Did you install illustrator as French or Belgian?

The only thing I can think of is International settings/Regional Settings in your system preferences.

Perhaps if illustrator is installed under US language, for example, it switches the keyboard to be US.

I don't really know.

Ii think Eugene is right. The same thing happens to me also, but reversed ! I have both French Canadian and French selected for the keyboard in the International pref pane. By default (in the options somewhere in this pane) the Command-Option-Spacebar toggles between the two languages, even outside Illustrator. The fact is that I use this command often in Ill. for zooming.

I did install Illustrator in US- International yes. I prefer it this way because I like to work with an English interface and it's also a bit cheaper to buy the English version of adobe products :p

But - it only changes to QWERTY while I'm already working in the program for some time, so GuyB I think it's indeed a keyboard shortcut that sets it off.

In the International preferences, you can change the keyboard shortcut (Command-Option-Spacebar) that toggles between the two types of keyboard (qwerty or azerty) and that interact with Illustrator zoom keyboard shortcut.
