I have recently been asked to produce an image that looks like it's been torn from a magazine. I need to create a template of sorts that can be applied to any image. It all so needs to be easy to make several diffrent variations of the edge line. I am currently running Photoshop CS on Tiger. I have found many tutorials on the subject but some dont work with the glossy look i have to give the picture or the high resolution the photo is in. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm, to get it to look realistic I'd print out the image and actually rip the paper. Then would scan it at a decent res. Depending on your scanner and the print you could get a really nice natural looking torn paper.

Of course it'd hurt the whole template thing you want to setup.

(Just thinking outside of the box)

Thats an idea. even if i just extracted the edges off of several magazine clippings to use as a template, i was kinda hoping to have a more high tech explination for how I did it. Oh well.
