my printer tells me that in indesign CS, the stroked text i've sent them that has been resized using bounding boxes, (grabbing the surrounding box and growing it proportionally) causes them grief. (well, some of it does, not all of it.)
(the strokes are usually way too thick, on some of this text) they don't look like the rest of the strokes on the page, anyway.
they seem to need to go through as many as 30 pages, after printing proofs, and resize the text using the character pallette, or possibly, from character styles they keep.

does indesign CS2 solve this problem?
i work for someone who doesn't believe in upgrading every single year, obviously.

this subject may have been dealt with, before, and if so, i apologize.

I use CS2, and I've seen stroked text in ID do some wacky stuff, so I try to stay away from it. Sometimes it's fine, but sometimes it wreaks havoc.

I'm not exactly sure what they are doing and what the frames actually look like, so I can't give you a definitive answer. But two settings you'll want to look at are in the Transform palette: One is Scale Strokes (if that's on and a frame is resized then the stroke will change size accordingly). The other is Dimensions Include Stroke Weight...depending on whether you have the strokes aligning to the center of the bounding box (like in Illustrator), to the inside (a la Quark), or to the outside, this can also cause some unexpecting (and hair-pulling) results.

My suggestion is to take some of the offending objects, do whatever resizing they might have needed to do, play with the suggested settings, and you'll probably find your answer for future jobs!
