Thanks! I use Lightroom all the time since th first Beta versuon came out and I love it. Didn"t know about the use of a smart object either so thanks for that and some of the shortcuts. Both the mask colours on the selection and the grayscale use was vague in my mind so thanks for clarifying that all.
Panoramic and merging as layers, never done yet so can't wait to try that out!
Also I would love to know about creating HDR images (in this workflow ). Could you show us?

I've ordered Lightroom and had only a vague sense of how you integrated the workflow if you wanted to do more with the image in Photoshop. Thanks for a very helpful article. It gave me a much better sense of how they can work together.

Another thank you here. I'd overlooked the smart object option altogether. You've made clear it's the only way to do this.

Re last comment, OK - I just found out it's because I was using a 16 bit file and these filters will only work on 8 bit!

This is so informative and well written -thank you! It contains important details I have found nowhere else. But can anyone help with the fact that I am still unable to access filters in the CS4 Filter Gallery (eg Artistic) for use on a smart object or its smart duplicate layer - they remain greyed out whether I have a smart object or normal image brought over from LR 2.3. Am I missing something obvious?

Is there an easy way to get a version completed and saved in Photoshop back to Lightroom so that it can be printed using one of the Lightroom print presets?
