- Take the color layer, duplicate it and lock the transparency
- Copy the selection below and fill the area on the new layer with white
- Switch the blending mode
- Using the brush tool, start sketching in the shadows using linear burn
- You can change the brightness of the shadows as needed using the opacity slider
