Layers TV: Episode 2

RC starts off by creating Symbols in Illustrator and then using the Symbol Sprayer tools to add the newly created Symbols to the artboard. Corey gets into After Effects CS3 by importing a layered Photoshop file and demonstrates the new Puppet tool by animating text.

Episode Summary

  • Modify the shapes by rotating the objects numerically
  • Define the Symbol and add it to the Symbol library
  • Use the Symbol tools to apply the art

TIP: Corey shares a tip on being able to control the visibility of layers on a placed Photoshop file all within InDesign.

TIP: RC expands on his Symbol tutorial and explains the ease of copy and pasting symbols right out of Illustrator and directly into Flash and being to animate the symbol instantly by making a bouncing ball effect.
