Episode Summary

Corey has figured out how to create a 3D animation in Illustrator.

  • Open Illustrator and create an object, in this case text
  • Convert it to outlines
  • Create a second object and leave some space between the two for blending
  • Use the 3D effect menu to add dimensions to your objects
  • Select both objects and use the Blend tool to create a blend with specified steps
  • Export the document in a Flash .swf file format
  • Use the advance settings in the Export options to animate the blend
  • Experiment with these settings to create all kinds of 3D animations, using just Illustrator

Special guest Matt Kloskowski answers some viewer questions about the benefits of working in Camera Raw.

  • Matt gives a basic overview of the Camera Raw workspace
  • Camera Raw is great for working on jpeg files, not just Raw file formats
  • Use the basic sliders to adjust things like temperature, tint, exposure, highlights, etc.
  • Watch the histogram to see what changes you are making to your image colors
  • One of the biggest benefits of working in Camera Raw is the simplified interface
  • Camera Raw makes it easier to adjust your photos by having everything in one place

RC and Corey announce the winner of last week's Layers TV contest and give out a new contest question with a special prize this week. Tune in to find out!
