Episode Summary

Corey shows us how to use After Effects to make a motion background with some animated text.

  • Open a new project in After Effects and use the text tool to create some text
  • Create a new solid layer and place it behind the text layer
  • Apply some preset effects from After Effects to the layers
  • Preview the effects in Bridge before you apply them
  • Double click the effect to apply it to your layers
  • After you've added an effect to the background, highlight the text layer and apply an effect to it

RC uses Adobe Premiere to place a logo graphic in the corner of a video file.

  • Open a new project in Premiere and import a video file (downloads included with this episode)
  • Drag the video file onto the timeline
  • Import the Layers TV logo file and drag that onto the timeline
  • Resize the logo, place it where you want, and drag out its instance on the timeline so it matches the length of the video clip
  • In another option, you can import the logo into After Effects and apply a Light Sweep effect to it
  • Open the Light Sweep effect options and change the direction off the sweep using keyframes to animate the changes
  • Save the After Effects file and import it into Premiere
  • Place the AE file into Premiere and adjust how you want it to work inside the video clip
