Lee Brimelow on Flash | Retouching Eyes Tutorial | Contest Time

Happy Monday everyone! First and foremost, thanks so much for the feedback on the recent Layers TV episode (it’s listed over there on the right, or you can subscribe to it using iTunes). I figured a quick peek in the bag would give me the opportunity to show off the things that I generally carry around in my camera bag, as well as talk a little bit about some tips and tricks insofar as digital photography. Again, many thanks for the request for the tutorial. Remember you can always send us any requests for tutorials using the Contact page – as well as by adding yourself to our new Layers Magazine Facebook Page and Twitter. You guys rock

Lee Brimelow on Flash CS4
I’m a very big fan of Lee Brimelow over at the Flash Blog. Over the last couple of weeks he’s been adding tutorials to our site, talking about the cool things inside of Flash CS4 over at his gotoAndLearn() site, and let me tell you – it is awesome. If there is one app that I am very, very excited to upgrade, Flash would have to be it. The changes that have been made to fit designers are wonderful and I can’t wait to see what all of you start designing with it. Lee’s got a great overview video on CS4 stuff as well as some cool things to happen with Motion Presets so make sure you check him out. Lee rocks!

Retouching Eyes with Chris Alvanas
Chris Alvanas takes us through a tutorial on how to retouch eyes using Photoshop CS4. Remember – if there is one portion of a picture that needs to be sharp -tack sharp – the eyes have it (pardon the pun). Click on the link below to get to the tutorial:

Contest Time
For this week’s contest time, I wanted to give you guys a chance to win a one year subscription to the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (or an extension if you are already a member), and a copy of Matt Kloskowski’s Layers Book. Keep in mind – with CS4 coming out a lot of you are probably wondering whether Matt’s book will translate over to the new version of Photoshop. One of the wonderful things about Matt’s book is that he treats the concept of Layers from a very fundamental level and expands on it. All of the stuff that he covers in the book is -completely- portable over to CS4. In fact, if you are looking to learn layers from the ground up, this is -the- book to get.

Go over to the contact page. Fill out your name, email address, and the answer to the following question.

“What is the name of the artist that I featured (and it was a great story) on October 10 of this year”

Contest ends this Thursday at 5PM and the winner will be announced on Friday morning.

Thanks for stopping in and spending some time with me. I’ll see you guys back here tomorrow morning!
