Photoshop User Magazine | Friends of Photoshop User TV | Wood Grain in Illustrator
I was sitting here thumbing through my latest copy of Photoshop User Magazine, and I have to say, I am really impressed with the article’s turnout. A couple of months ago, I was approached by the editor of Photoshop User about who I thought would make a cool addition to an article on wedding photography. Some people immediately came to mind: Matt and Sol at Del Sol Photography, and the incomparable Cliff Mautner.
Those group of amazing photographers augmented a very wise post from David Ziser of Digital Pro Talk to create a piece that talks a little about inspiration, technique, style, and focus that is rarely found elsewhere. I was very thankful that all involved got to me as fast as they did and we were able to put the article together. Their enthusiasm really spills over into the pages of the magazine.
Photoshop User Magazine is a publication that really has something for everyone – From tutorials to inspiration, tips and tricks to gear reviews – it’s one of those magazines that really gives you something to take away from it in every issue that you read. While you might think that in writing for it myself, it would get old, but I cannot tell you how many times I just sit in bed reading it and practicing the tutorials that I find in the pages. It really is inspirational, and I encourage you to become a subscriber if you have not already done so. Joining NAPP gives you a year’s subscription to the magazine and website, and a ton of other perks as well.
For those of you who look to augment their skills on all of the other apps, Layers Magazine is the other must add to the reading list. Wood Grain in Illustrator CS3
Scott Weichert takes us through a pretty nifty tutorial on using Illustrator CS3 to create a Wood Grain effect. There is quite a bit of Paste in Back options to create the grain, which can get a little hard to manage.. but I tell you, it’s totally worth it.
