Redefining Nested Paragraph Styles
In trying to change the formatting of a Nested Paragraph Style, an artist friend selected a paragraph that had the style applied and simply increased the Space After in the Paragraph palette. Then, with the revised paragraph selected, he tried updating the style by using Redefine Styles under the Options menu of the Paragraph Styles palette. But much to his surprise, the option was grayed out. He asked, “Can’t the feature be used with Nested Paragraph Styles?”
Yes! But not with the whole paragraph selected, which the feature views as mixed formatting. Instead, click anywhere in the paragraph that does NOT have a Character Style Nested into the formatting. Then go to the Options menu of the Paragraph Styles palette and the Redefine Style command is now available to work its magic.
