Steve Holmes

Award-winning British designer Steve Holmes, creative director of Energi Design, started his graphic design career in the United Kingdom.
After studying design and typography for print, he worked through two full-time design and print production companies over 7 years, before setting up Energi Design in 1994. Contracting with a selection of prestigious design firms, he created print layout, web design, and video motion graphics for clients such as Nike, Warner Bros, Disney, Coca-Cola, Virgin Atlantic, Toyota, and Cadbury’s Chocolate, to name but a few. Being a true Brit, Cadbury’s was one of his favorites!
With his design and animation work garnering international recognition and awards, he quickly came to the attention of Adobe Systems, who asked him to speak on their behalf at design seminars all over Europe, and then in the U.S. at events such as NAB (every year) and Siggraph, on the subjects of design, typography, web design and motion graphics in relation to Adobe’s design software products, primarily After Effects.
Seizing an opportunity to move to California in 2002, he worked with Total Training for 3 years as their Director of Design & Animation Training. For the award-winning video training company, whose work is featured and revered by Adobe in all their software boxes (you thought you recognized that British accent!), he designed, created and hosted many full-length series for a wide selection of Adobe software, and design/production techniques, taking Total Training to a new level of design and presentation quality for which it is now famous.
However, his most revered work for them is the best-selling and multiple award-winning series on Adobe After Effects 7.0 Professional, widely recognized in the motion graphics industry as the best source for AE knowledge.
With Energi Design now firmly settled in Sausalito, California, Steve runs the studio as Creative Director, working with the team to design, concept, create and animate web and motion graphics projects, and is proud of every moving pixel branded with the Energi motif!
