Vincent Laforet and the Canon 5D - Reverie
This video is totally making the rounds on the Internet, and with very good reason. Vincent Laforet has taken a pre-production Canon 5D Mark II and used its ability to shoot at 1080p to make a short film called Reverie. The film shows a masterful use of the Camera and takes some breathtaking images of NY (Man, did that make me homesick!). I’ve been a Nikon shooter for some time, and recently with the D3, D300, and D700 i’ve had many a camera to drool over. I will say this- the video has totally made me want to explore the Canon a little bit and see what the 5D has to offer. I’m totally not ready to go and get rid of thousands of dollars of gear.. but it’s sparked an interest for me.
Looking at some of the numbers of of Vincent’s site, Canon must be pumped that it’s doing the same to a ton of other people as well.
This is breathtaking video, but this is a Camera first. Before you jump into the video, spend some time taking a look at the stills that came from the camera. See the lenses and exposures he was shooting at. Vincent’s got a series of shots where the MINIMUM ISO was 1600, and the quality is amazing. It really does let you appreciate the quality of work on both Vincent’s part and the 5D. He should definitely be one of the blogs on your list. Bravo!!
