Tripod Alert | Illustrator Tutorial | Top Fonts You Should Own | Contest Time
Happy Monday everyone! Let’s get right down to it. I was at a local camera store this weekend, and while I was getting a UV filter for a lens, I passed a Dynatran camera tripod. I picked it up and thought to myself, “Wow.. this is really, really light.” It was light enough that you can easily throw it on your back and not even notice that it was there. Obviously, I took down as much information as I could about it, and went on the web to check it out. Being a person that is always looking for a good, sturdy tripod, I’d be very interested if any of you out there have played around with one and have a good field test review on it. If you have, please leave me a contact here. I think for the price, I may have to just get one and give it a once over myself. If I do, I’ll be happy to pass along what I find out.
Brushed Metal Tutorial with Scott Weichert Scott Weichert rocks out a tutorial on how to create brushed metal effect in Illustrator CS3. Make sure that you check out that tutorial by clicking on this link. Every time we get in a new tutorial on Illustrator, I always take notice. You should too. Go there now.
A cool listing on fonts you should own, as well as this week’s contest after the jump, so stick around…
Just Creative Design on Fonts You Should Own
Jacob Cass has got a cool post today on some fonts that every graphic designer should own. Make sure you check them out at the following link. Any time someone offers a free font, it’s always music to my ears. Thanks a lot Jacob for the reference.
Contest Time
Ok, this one should be simple. In Flash there are two different types of tweens that you can create. Go to the Contact page on the site, and fill out your name, email address, and tell us what those two tweens are. We will draw the winner on Thursday, and the contest will be done. On Friday we will post the winner. The winner of the contest will get a copy of the Photoflip CS component from our friends at Digicrafts Components. I’ve talked about how cool this component is to work with. It can be used in Flash to create some really cool XML-based slideshows. (Check out that episode of LayersTV at this link) If you want to build out a cool gallery in Flash, this is definitely one way to do it.
So good luck, happy entering, and I will see you guys tomorrow!
