Living In Layers - The OFFICIAL Layers Magazine Blog
Viewer Mail | Rollovers in Photoshop | After Effects Tutorial |
Happy Wednesday everyone! Make sure you check out our new episode of Layers TV, where Corey goes through his Wacom collection and talks about the different models. Ah, Cintiq, how happy you make us feel. If you are into the tablets, or are thinking about getting one, I would suggest that you take a look at our contest on the show. No more prompting, but if you win, you will be NICELY rewarded. Go see it over there on the right.

I’m really excited that a lot of you have been using the CONTACT page on the site to send us comments when we run a contest, and when we do Layers TV. My personal goal has been to make the blog, the show, and the magazine based on all of the things that you need and want to learn. To do that, we’re going to need to hear from you. Originally, I was going to take all of that information and cover it on Layers TV - but an even better idea came to me. What if I posted some of your questions and answers right on the blog and on tutorials, and we went over them together? I think we’d all benefit (Let me know if you think this works in the comments).
So.. first up, Michal Tuzinkiewicz sent us a question asking about Photoshop and how it deals with rollovers now that Imageready isn’t a part of it any more. Great question Michal. While you can’t do it in Photoshop anymore, you’ll find it even easier to do in Dreamweaver. Let’s talk about both right here.

Using Shape Layers in After Effects
Today we have a cool tutorial on how to use Shape Layers in After Effects. Make sure you check out the tutorial by clicking on this link. After Effects is a great product to use, and it’s not just limited to video. Over the next few weeks, we are going to uncork some of the cool things that you can do in this powerful app.
Cool Product Alert - Belkin Surge Protector with USB Charger
I saw this on Endgadget a couple of days ago - a three pronged adapter that gives you two surge-protected outlets in addition to two USB charging areas. Now you can charge your phone, Ipod, and have power to your laptop out of one spot. I’m so going to have to get one of these.
Check it out at the Belkin Website

I was totally blown away with the ability to use the wacom tablets! Corey, is there any way you can write “CS Media Productions” with same style you wrote “Layers TV”? That was totally awesome! You guys rock!
Someday I will learn to use one!
