Where Are My InDesign Layers in Acrobat?

Being able to retain your InDesign Layers when Exporting a layout to Acrobat can be a very useful feature. One question I get all the time from artists is about why “Create Acrobat Layers” is grayed out in the Export Adobe PDF dialog. The answer is Compatibility. If the compatibility of the PDF to be created is not set to Acrobat 6 or higher, the feature is grayed out. Why? Acrobat Layers did not exist before Acrobat 6. So if you want Layers in Acrobat, set your Compatibility at the top of the dialog to Acrobat 6, 7, or 8.
